I would like to install new rotors and new brakes on my 2003 GMC Envoy XL. Is it something I can tackle or should I leave it to a professional.I have done some repairs in the past but not brakes and not on the envoy . Thanks.

Here is a condensed version on how to change the brake pads on a GM drummed braked car. This is on a 1994 Chevy Caprice Station Wagon with 11" drums. I narrate the disassembly and talk about the parts, then speed up the reassembly process. I changed the pads because the ones that were on the car were sticky when damp (probably because they're cheap). The drums did not need machining, but I did grind a rust lip off the edge so they would reassemble.

My dad has a 2000 Chevy Cavalier, and the brakes are completely shot - literally, they completely failed. I kept telling him to get them replaced during that period of the awful grinding sound, but no... anyways, I digress.

I'd like to know what the total approximate cost would be to have the brakes replaced - not just the pads, shoes, etc. The total cost in a worst-case scenario (which it most likely is).

my grand father has a white 2007 chevrolet cobalt and his brakes are pulsating, he has already had them turned and replaced them.
